Psalm 23

I am currently reading an awesome book, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23. Over the next few days I will be walking through this Psalm and how the Lord is using it to quiet my soul in my times of pain and distress. Before I start to tear it apart, I wanted to give everyone a reminder of the precious words that we can cling to in our own times of need.

1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to His name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for You are close beside me.
Your rod and Your staff
protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

Be Blessed today as you read these words. Give thanks to God for the times He walked with you through the "valley of the shadow of death."

  1. This is such a powerful Psalm! I wrote about it on my blog a couple months ago too, and I was interested in the difference of translations. I always read the NIV growing up and all through my 20's, so I was used to reading that God's goodness and unfailing love will follow me all the days of my life. It's pretty different in the NLT (which I only started reading after my husband left me) that His unfailing love will 'pursue' me! Pursue me! Wow, it struck me that God wants to chase me down with His love and goodness! I love God's word, and can't wait to hear your thoughts on your study.
