Dreams: A window into the Heavenlies

So this morning has been awesome. Let me tell you about it!

Justus walks up to me this morning around 7am and says, "Mom tell me about your dreams last night." I said, "Well Justus, I am sure that I had dreams, but I don't remember any of them...sometimes that happens to me." To which he replied, "Can I tell you about my dream?"

Here goes:

He dreamed that he was talking with Jesus. And Jesus told him, "Don't worry, I am protecting Ruthie from Satan up in heaven."

Now I got NO background info on what has been in his heart or what he asked Jesus to get this answer, but I know that the presence of evil is very real to my children. I do not hide it, I want them to know where sin comes from and I want them to know that we have an adversary that likes it when we do bad things. Not to mention we read the Bible together and Satan is in there, and who am I to censor God's Word to my children? They are aware of him and his dealings, but praise the Lord they do not fear him. However, that is here, in the comfort of our home where Mommy and Daddy partner with Jesus to protect him. But what about heaven? Are we safe from sin, evil and pain in Heaven? While Justus has thrown a wide variety of questions at me that is not one of them. So it would be a valid question to want to make sure that heaven is a place where we are completely free from the bad things of this world, and that Jesus fully protects us from the evil that we cannot see in the physical here on earth. This part of the story totally met a need in his spirit as I could see relief and joy in his face. He was so happy to tell me that it was CERTAIN Ruthie was with Jesus and she is safe there.

Gosh it began to break my heart how many people have children with Jesus but don't know for certain the security and eternity of their young child...even those that have miscarried. If you bear the thorn of a young child that has died, know they are safe and secure in the arms of Jesus. Job in all his pain and suffering, proclaimed in Scripture that it would be better if he was stillborn. Why? Because a stillborn child sees nothing but Jesus and the Father...total bliss and purity for all eternity. If this was not so, Job would have kept a tighter reign on his tongue.

Anyway, so I let that process and I praised the Lord in my spirit that my child knows of the security of Christ, and then I begin poking a little harder. I sort of had my own Heaven is for Real moment (if you have not read that I suggest you pick it up). I said, "Well Justus what did Ruthie look like?" He shook his head, "I don't know." Realizing that is not a question to ask a 4 year old, I decided to turn to more narrow, focused questions. "Well, what was Jesus wearing?" "A long white t-shirt" was his answer, and I though how much I love the mind of a child. Ha..not a tunic, a long white t-shirt! Then he said, "Jesus had long brown hair." Good enough for me. Now that I have him talking, let's see what else I can get from him right?

"Well, what color hair did Ruthie have?"
"Brown, just like you Mom."

Not only was my son in the presence of Christ in his dream, but Ruthie was there too!!

You should know at this point, before I ask the next question, that when we delivered Ruthie, Brian and I looked at her and marveled at how much she looked like Brooke when she was born. It was almost as if they were twins, same facial features and everything. We praised the Lord over this because we felt if we ever thought we missed what she looked like, we could just look at Brooke. We never shared this information with Justus.

So then I said to him, "Justus, did Ruthie look like anyone you know?"
WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT, WITHOUT EVEN GIVING IT ANY THOUGHT:
"Yeah Mom, she looked just like Brooke!"

"Justus, any idea how old she was? Was she a kid like you? Or a baby?"
"Um..she was 1, walking around Jesus, He wasn't holding her like a baby."

You should also know that in 1 month, we will celebrate Ruthie's birthday...December 9th.
Some of you might shake that off as weird...just a freaky dream right? But the Lord ministers to us through dreams and visions, He calls us into His kingdom with dreams and gives us a taste of the divine. Sometimes it is to convert and show Himself as true to someone who does not believe, and other times He shares with those He can trust. Justus knows Jesus in a powerful way, so I count myself blessed that Justus is considered worthy to be trusted in the Lord's eyes.

"Lord may we always have eyes to see your great miracles and mercies! May we count ourselves blessed when you reveal things to us, and while we know you will never leave or forsake us, let us never forsake you. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
